Donald Trump Is No Less Dangerous than Were He Sane

Given all Trump has said and done since 2015, the most generous thing I can say about him is he must be quite ill. As such he might not be capable of fully understanding, as a sane person would, the consequences of his actions and the harm he has done to individuals, the Nation, and indeed the world.

For instance, has he expressed any regret for the human toll and national trauma of his attempt to violently overturn the results of the 2020 election?

Let’s say his political instincts are extraordinary, despite his knack for leaving his advisors wincing and alarmed. He could be no less mentally ill.

And being mentally ill, he is no less dangerous, and is probably more so, than were he a sane man.

None of us can say we were not warned about Donald Trump. In July of 2020, six months before he sent a mob to the Capitol, and relished the resulting chaos for hours before calling it off, his niece, Mary Trump, published her account of him: “Too Much and Never Enough: How My Family Created the World’s Most Dangerous Man”.

Many who worked closely with him during his first term warned American voters that he should not occupy the White House again.

Too much and never enough. Those five words sum up Donald Trump. We are going to see what he is capable of. May God help us restrain him.

In his own mind, he is invincible. To date he has demonstrated that he is, indeed, above the law. We must show him he is not.
